FROM: The South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE)
TO: The SAICE Transportation Division, and SAICE members residing in
Gauteng

Dear members of the SAICE Transportation Division, and SAICE members in
Gauteng

This is a reminder that the feature on transportation engineering and
the sub-feature on Gauteng will be appearing in the September 2009
edition of SAICE's magazine "Civil Engineering". In this regard please
refer to the attached 2009 features list. This features list was also
handed out at the April Council meeting. However, I am becoming worried
as we have not received any substantial material from our members for
the above-mentioned features yet, and the deadline of 30 June is
looming.

Our magazine reaches around 8 500 readers monthly, and is also handed to
decision-makers when SAICE leaders meet with them on local, provincial
and governmental level. The SAICE magazine is therefore an ideal vehicle
to showcase your Division's scope and field of expertise, interesting
civil engineering projects in Gauteng, or happenings within your
Division/Branch. Last year's September edition featured a number of very
interesting articles, and, with your help, we would like to bring out a
similarly interesting edition this year.

Please send your contributions (or queries) directly to me - see contact
details below. The extended deadline for submissions is Monday 13 July
2009.

Attached please find a rough template that you may use as a guide when
preparing articles, should you have a need for that.

We would also appreciate it if you could provide our advertising agent,
Barbara Spence, with relevant leads if at all possible (contact details
below).

Other official languages: As you can see from our features list, we also
feature articles in the other official languages of our country, i.e.
other than English. These languages are also rotated as sub-title on the
cover. Should one of these languages happen to be your mother tongue,
you are most welcome to send us articles in that language, together with
a synopsis in English of approximately 25% of the length of the article.
These articles need not necessarily be technical - they could have a
history-and-heritage flavour (e.g. how things were when you were a child
and how civil engineering has changed that), or why you chose civil
engineering as a career, or anything interesting and relevant to the
civil engineering environment that you would like to share with readers
in your mother tongue. The September magazine will be featuring
IsiNdebele.

We would love to feature your Division, your region, and your home
language in our magazine and look forward to receiving your
contributions!

Kind SAICE regards
