Reinforced Concrete Design to SANS 10100-1
Structural Steel Design Code to SANS 10162
09 November 2010
Introduction - This one-day course is aimed at developing an
understanding into the basic design theory as well as demonstrating the
application thereof with suitable design examples on each section. The
course would be suitable for young engineers and technologist as well as
experienced engineers who feel the need to get back to grips with the
basics of reinforced concrete design.
Course Background - The course will be presented by Gregg Parrott who is
an associate Director and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at
the Durban University of Technology and has over eighteen years teaching
experience in Reinforced Concrete Design. He has also successfully
presented similar courses to this one at a number of centres around the
country over these years.
The course will run form 08:30 - 16:00 with two 15 minute tea breaks and
a 45 minute lunch break. For further information regarding the technical
content of the course, you are welcome to contact Greg Parrott directly
on 0825746776.
Costs - The cost of the course for SAICE and CSSA members is R2300.00,
which includes a copy of the book 'Reinforced Concrete Design to SANS
10100-1 (revised 2008 edition) as well as handouts, lunch and teas.
The cost of the course for non-SAICE members is R3300.00.
10 November 2010
Introduction - SANS10162-1:2005 is the latest structural steel design
code and it essential that designers are familiar with the changes that
have been made from SABS 0162-1:1993. I t is important to note that
designs based on codes using the 'allowable stress" design approach are
no longer permitted since the allowable stress design standard has been
withdrawn. This one-day course is aimed at developing an understanding
into the basic design theory as well as demonstrating the application
thereof with suitable design examples on each section.
Course Background - The course will be presented by Greg Parrott who has
over fifteen years teaching experience in Structural Steel Design and
has presented similar courses around the country. In obtaining the 1
CPD credit for this course, and by voluntarily completing some design
homework examples you could be given credit for the first module of the
SAISC advanced course on the design of industrial buildings and qualify
to enter the subsequent three modules.
The course will run form 08:30 - 16:00 with two 15 minute tea breaks and
a 45 minute lunch break. For further information regarding the technical
content of the course, you are welcome to contact Greg Parrott directly
on 0825746776.
Cost - The cost of the course is R2450, 00 per delegate for SAICE
Members and R3300, 00 per delegate for Non-SAICE Members.
