Dear SAICE members
This is a reminder that the July 2011 edition of SAICE's magazine, "Civil Engineering", will be featuring Construction and Project Management. We invite you to make use of this ideal opportunity to showcase some of the interesting projects that you are involved with - in your very own magazine.
The one thing that makes SAICE's magazine unique, is indeed the fact that most of the articles in the magazine are supplied by SAICE members themselves. This opportunity exists for every member, even if you live and work in the remotest part of our country (which in fact often makes for very interesting reading). If one considers that our magazine reaches approximately 9000 readers every month, and is also handed to decision-makers when SAICE leaders meet with them, contributing to the magazine becomes all the more meaningful.
The extended deadline for articles is Monday 16 May 2011. Please send your articles directly to me (see contact details below).
I am attaching a rough template that you may want to use as a guide when preparing articles, should you have a need for that. Please also have a look at the attached 2011 features list - perhaps you have a particular interest in one of the sub-features, or in one of the other upcoming features. Members of the SAICE Highveld, Kimberley and Upington Branches, please take note that your part of the country has been scheduled as a sub-feature in July - we would love to hear from you!
As you can see from our features list, we also make space for articles in the other official languages, i.e. other than English. These languages are rotated as sub-title on the cover, too (Afrikaans for July). Articles submitted in one of these other languages should be accompanied by a synopsis in English of approximately 25% of the length of the article.
And lastly, our magazine cannot appear without advertising support, so we would appreciate it if you could provide our advertising executive, Barbara Spence, with relevant leads if at all possible (011 463 7940, 082 881 3454, barbara at avenue.co.za<BLOCKED::mailto:barbara at avenue.co.za>).
Looking forward to receiving your contributions!
Kind regards
Verelene
