controversial and much debated Built Environment Professions Bill 53-2008 has
been withdrawn, as announced yesterday (18 November 2008) by the Minister of
Public Works, Minister Geoff Doidge. He addressed a media briefing in <st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Cape Town</st1:City></st1:place> and explained
that all issues had to be addressed before the Bill could be tabled again. We

Institutions are however not relaxing as yet, as we are pressing on to set a
date and time for a meeting with Minister Doidge to discuss the way forward in
terms of the regulatory framework for the Built Environment. It is now clearer
than ever that communication channels should be opened and re-established to
