returning to South Africa in November 2008 with events in Durban,
Johannesburg and Cape Town.

The forthcoming roadshows and workshops are fully CPD accredited by
SAICE and will be taught by a fully experienced NEC tutor. See below for

Understanding NEC roles and responsibilities

This roadshow is aimed at people working for clients, consultants and
contractors who are new to the NEC forms of contract and require an
overview of what they are and how they operate.  It will also be a
helpful overview for those who have used, or are using, NEC contracts. 

Topics to be covered will include

*      An introduction to the NEC family of contracts and what they are
used for

*      The business case for using NEC contracts in your organisation,
whether you are a client, a consultant or a contractor.

*      The flexibility of the contracts and how they fit it in with your
procurement strategy

*      How the NEC family of contracts help with the management of
assets from conception, through design, construction, and on to
operation and maintenance

*      The key roles and responsibilities of the various parties 

o       at tender stage, and

o       when administering the contract

*      The management of time, cost and quality under NEC contracts

*      How the framework contract can help with long term supply chain
management

What are we focusing on?

*          This workshop will focus on the provisions of the NEC3
Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC).

*          We will concentrate on the purpose, creation and
administration of the Activity Schedule in main Options A and C. We will
also establish the process required to assess Defined Cost when
assessing compensation events for main Options A to F, together with
assessing Defined Cost as part of the Price for Work Done to Date in
main Options C to E.

*          This Workshop will be of benefit to those using the NEC3
Engineering and Construction Subcontract (ECS).

What are we focusing on?

*          This workshop will focus on the provisions of the NEC3
Professional Services Contract (PSC), the NEC3 Term Service Contract
(TSC) and the new NEC3 Term Service Short Contract (TSSC).  

*          We will concentrate on the purpose, creation and
administration of the Activity Schedule/Price List in the PSC and TSC.
We will look at the role staff rates play in assessing compensation
events and the Price for Services Provided to Date in the PSC.  

*          We will also establish the process required to assess Defined
Cost when assessing compensation events and the Price for Services Done
to Date in the TSC.  

*          Finally we will look at the main provisions and features of
the new NEC3 Term Service Short Contract (TSSC). All delegates to this
session will receive a FREE pre-publication copy of this brand new
contract.
