Good day all 9000 members!
11 July to 16 July 2009 No response from SAICE National Office?
No electricity! No email no telephone!
The electricity utility City Power of the City of Johannesburg
advertising itself as "A world class African City" took all of FIVE
days, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to restore our
electricity supply at Thornhill Office Park, Midrand. What is more
amazing, they got supply back to other parts in our vicinity, but kept
DENYING that the ongoing problem at Thornhill Office Park was their
fault - until Tuesday morning - after two more days of repairing and
replacing their equipment.
When the SAICE infrastructure report card for 2009 is compiled, we may
just ask that City Power and Johannesburg be given an E- for 'service
delivery'. The good news is that we are back at the office and operating
again - never mind the backlogs and cancelled meeting logistics.
Complaints can be directed to Anna Cox at metrowatch at star.co.za. She is
doing an excellent job as consumer watchdog and invariably gets results
that one does not get when you phone the call centres of the city.
The cost to SAICE inter alia includes: Loss of productivity, electrician
and possible damage to equipment due to the surges over the weekend, etc
etc etc.
